When investing in your home, one thing you should consider is renovation. When thinking of things to upgrade, you should make sure you ask a professional to look at the plumbing. Upgrading your plumbing set-up means you won’t have to rely on a temporary fixes when there are issues.
If you want a modern look, you should consider laminate or wooden floors, as these are easier to clean and can help lower the chance of allergies, as they won’t capture dust like a carpet would.
If you want an outside space for relaxing, then a patio is the way to go. Not only will it raise the value of your home due to potential buyers being interested, it is also beneficial health wise, both physically and mentally, as you’re more likely to spend time outside.
Another way to get natural light is to install sliding doors. If you have a glass door, it will double as a window. This can help to let sunlight in, and give the illusion the room inside is larger. In the summer, you can open the doors to let cool air into your home.
If you have ideas for a renovation and you’re not sure where to start, then you can ask a professional for advice, as they will suggest where the best place is to start.
The Mayor of London has approved the building of a new 37 storey office and retail block in the City Of London, overlooking one of the oldest markets in London, Leadenhall. There has been a market on this site since the 14th century.
1 Leadenhall is currently occupied by Amazon, but will be demolished to make way for a new 183m tall retail and office block. Although it is much taller than the building that it replaces it will still be dwarfed by many of the buildings in the vicinity, including the Shard, which at just short of 310m is currently the tallest UK building.
The high price of land is forcing architects and developers to consider how they can get the most out of the space available to them. Buildings are being designed taller and taller, this has encouraged architects and engineers to explore alternative solutions and overcome situations that would have appeared impossible previously. Traditional building methods and the problems caused by the stresses and strains of the wind and weather have meant new methods and standards have to be applied in order to be able to successfully and safely build a ‘skyscraper’.
The first 16 storey building was built in 1891 the Chicago, to accommodate the height the walls were 6ft thick at the base. 22 years later in New York City the Woolworth Building was built and at 242m it was the world’s first skyscraper. The only way they could achieve this great height was by the use of a steel skeleton. This new innovation revolutionised the building industry. Only 18years later the Empire State building at 381m was built, for 41 years it was the highest office block in worldwide. In 2000 there were still only 6 buildings that were taller around the world.
The building industry has taken full advantage of the latest innovations in technology and the latest computer modelling which has led to skyscrapers changing the landscape all over the world. WE do not build skyscrapers ourselves but if you are looking for quality Builders in Exeter, give us a call.
